This statuette was exclusively available at Tokyo Disney Resort to commemorate Boys' Day. If you've seen my previous entry, then you'll note the similarities, though this time, Stitch is munching on the poor carp instead of a tasty mochi cake.

Keen, huh? Carp are a kind of traditional display on Boys Day, so the statues we've seen usually depict Stitch either riding one or, as in this case, chomping down on one.

Gah, I think I'm gonna have a Japan-gasm!

So, Tokyo Disney. They've figured out we all like Stitch, so if'n you go there, you will find yourself surrounded by a surfeit of fuzzy blue alien-themed merchandise, including Stitch-themed novelty straws, and even (on certain occasions) Stitch water (in Stitch water bottles).

What I've never managed to actually encounter is THIS, a Stitch-themed water bottle topped by a Stitch-themed novelty straw, and THEN subjected to the Japanese process of teensification!!!! The aforesaid, in mascot size. So, you could dangle it from your cell phone.

In case you ever find yourself in the Magic Kingdom and discover to your horror that your nails have grown unfashionably long, STITCH CAN HELP!

And, yes, this is a 100% official Tokyo Disney Resort item. You know what would also be cool? Stitch nose hair clippers. I haven't seen any of those ... yet! But I'm keeping my eye out.

Tokyo Disney Stitch

This is a chance to show one of my favorite souvenirs from Tokyo Disney Sea, plus share a couple of the pretty pictures Mr. Tiki took for me. Basically, Disney Sea has a variety of lands, like Disneyland, only since it's water-themed, they call them "ports." So, for these items, they've created incredibly adorable images of Stitch (and Scrumpie!) visiting various ports in the park. Here there are at Mermaid Island, which is based on The Little Mermaid.

And, here is Stitch hanging around the Mysterious Island bit of the park (which houses several Jules Verne-themed rides in a volcano)....

I want candy!

OK. So. We blogged about the whole "oops I forgot a box we mailed ourselves from Tokyo 'cause it got hidden in our room while we were cleaning up for the Xmas party" thing the other day, so, after spending our day off watching part of a "Hoarders" marathon and then completely cleaning out the recycling pile from the kitchen (dunno why, just had the urge), we finally got around to taking some pictures.

Most of the stuff turns out to be the haul from Tokyo Disneyland and Disney Sea. We were kind of surprised and amazed at the sheer number of candy and/or cookie and/or just plain food items in our stash.

That's popcorn up above. There were also a lot of items in keen metal boxes, like the New Year 2010 candy, or the Chocolate Crunch. I like the box with the Mouse Ears, but can't for the life of me remember what's in it. The Chip N Dale one is, of course, nuts! There was also a neat package with a Stitch clip you can later use to close your potato chip bags. Does everyone who visits Tokyo Disney Resort go when they're totally hungry or something?

Stitchie new year!

We encountered a lot of new years themed Stitchinalia on our recent trip to Japan.  It's not surprising, as new years is a big celebration, and Japan is mad for Stitch.  The biggest collection was at the Japanese Disney Stores.  Now, usually I dislike promotions that feature Stitch + Angel.  It's not that I dislike Angel, it's just that, in the past, they've seemed a bit uninspired.  In this case, however, they've created a gorgeous, and very Japanese-themed display relating to Stitch and Angel (and sometimes Scrump) looking at the sunset sunrise (thanks, Amy L.!!).  I snapped a couple of (not very good - sorry) pictures of the display at the Disney Store outside Tokyo Disney.  My favorite piece of the bunch was probably the ceramic statuettes, but they also had, well, just about everything else, from candy to chopsticks to chopstick holders, stationery, stickers, banners, hand towels, and a couple of items I couldn't even identify!

As a major Lucasfilm geek, I was amazed at how much Stitch/Raiders of the Lost Ark crossover stuff was issued in Japan last year. Pictured is one of my favorite items, a Stitch Big fig from the Japanese Disney Store's "Stitch's Treasure Hunt" promotion.

Here's some other stuff from the Disney Store or the Disney parks:  a statuette featuring Scrump, some Chocolate Crunch cookies from the Nile River Delta section of Disney Sea (which includes the Indy Jones ride), and stationery items with the artwork from the cookies, a metal box containing candy or cookies (I forget) that's from the Treasure Hunt promotion, and a "BEWARE" cap from the Nile River Delta section.

Just uploaded some more images to Flickr from our day at Tokyo Disneyland and Disney Sea last month. I think I may have written elsewhere about being totally flummoxed by the amount of unexpected merchandise. Usually, when they do some kind of promotion at the parks, I'll at least see images of a few items pop up on the Japanese auction boards. In this case, Mr. Tikistitch and I entered a shop outside the Pirates of the Caribbean ride (I believe it was The Golden Galleon) and were confronted with an entire wall of Stitch-themed merchandise. What does Stitch have to do with the POTC ride? Um, well, according to Disney merchandising, a lot.

They've removed Lilo and inserted Angel! 

Not sure why Stitch would be annoyed by a kiss from Angel, who's supposedly his girlfriend.

These are something Mr. Tikistitch spotted at Tokyo Disney Sea. Basically, they have plushie frames, featuring Stitch, themed after several of the "lands" at the park, such as "Lost River Delta," and Indy Jones-type area of the park.
I like stuff like this because it's specific to a particular Disney Resort.  And Disney Sea is like no other Disney park.
